December 2025
The TxPPA 2025 Fall Conference was a tremendous success, with a full attendance of 198 participants. Hays County Commissioner Cohen delivered the welcome address and surprised us all with her background in public purchasing. We were also honored to have Debbie Trueblood, the new CEO of NIGP, as our opening keynote speaker. I would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the Conference and Professional Development committees for putting together an outstanding event. Once again, we set a record for registered delegates, attracted new exhibitors and sponsors, and featured an impressive lineup of speakers. As I conclude my year serving as the 2025 TxPPA president, I want to highlight some of our accomplishments: - Onboarded a new management company - Increased membership - Launched a new website - Introduced a new conference app - Updated our listserv - Hosted five free webinars for our members - Delivered the most requested topics from our member survey - Published monthly newsletters - Recognized members for achieving new certifications - Provided on-site badge printing - Offered updates on the 89th Legislative session This Board and committees have great plans for our members to enhance this association, focusing on education and information that will provide the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to strengthen the agencies we serve. I am proud to have worked alongside this team, which consistently prioritizes the best interests of our members. Thank you for making TxPPA's conferences a success! Melissa Lee, C.P.M., A.P.P. The Benefits of MembershipProfessional Development Opportunities:
TxPPA rigorously determines member needs and coordinates multiple training opportunities throughout the year. Annual Conferences: Each year, we present a spring and fall conference where members can meet, participate in professional development classes and seminars, join member discussions, get up to date on industry changes and legislation in public purchasing, and improve their professional standing - and their value to their employer! Legislative Updates: TxPPA tracks issues, bills and legislative changes relevant to public purchasing in Texas and provides informed counsel for laws and lawmakers that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of public procurement in Texas. When laws change or new developments occur, our members are first to know! Communications: Access to TxPPAConnect (our members-only listserv), LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook updates, and other online professional tools. Our TxPPAConnect service is a Listserv which automatically forwards email from you to members who have subscribed to the service. Replies are also distributed to subscribers; it's a great way to share ideas and learn how other professionals deal with challenging situations. To send a message to other subscribers, just email [email protected] and the system will automatically distribute your message. If you have subscribed and are not receiving messages, your spam filters may be trapping the messages. Speak with your IT department and have them "white list" mail coming from [email protected]. Networking Opportunities: Our members have the opportunity to network with colleagues from across Texas at conferences and meetings and through our online tools. These networking opportunities promote the exchange of ideas, experiences, and fraternity in Texas public purchasing. |
